A FEW QUICK THOUGHTS:

McCain and Palin clearly don't know each other. They've met like once...and clearly looked a bit awkward acting like best friends on the stage. In a way (that actually feels a bit overdetermined), it's the political equivalent of the plot to the movie "Knocked Up." It's a hot girl and an ugly guy who had a quick one night encounter...and now they're suddenly in deep together.

--

Last night, Sara Palin was swinging for the fences. If the fences happened to be located between Barack Obama's legs.

--

It's kind of ironic that the tough guy maverick war vet is letting his lady running mate do the attacking for him. But, hey, I guess that's just what heroes do.

--

My friend A.G. made a great observation. She said when she saw the mean-spirited grins and maniacal smiles on the faces of the Republican party faithful last night as they cheered the GILF/Congenial Barracuda's vicious slams against Obama, she thought to herself "This must be what it's like at a lynching."

QUOTE OF THE DAY: (Via Daily Kos and a few other places...as it's now pretty much ubiquitous on the web.)

"Jesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor."
